Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan Presidents Discuss Strengthening Bilateral Ties in Phone Call

Tashkent, The Gulf Observer: On April 26, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, held a phone call with Ilham Aliyev, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, to discuss the further strengthening of their countries’ friendship, strategic partnership, and alliance.

During the conversation, the two leaders reviewed the progress made in implementing agreements that were reached during President Aliyev’s state visit to Uzbekistan in August of the previous year. They both expressed satisfaction with the productive results achieved during the “Year of Economic Cooperation.”

The Presidents noted a 20% increase in trade turnover since the beginning of the year and highlighted the active progress of joint projects in sectors including machinery, textiles, electrical engineering, energy, agriculture, tourism, and more. They also commended the ongoing cultural and humanitarian exchanges between the two countries.

In addition, the leaders emphasized the importance of preparing thoroughly for upcoming high-level summits this year. These include the session of the intergovernmental commission, as well as forums for regional cooperation and cultural events, such as the forum of regions and rectors.

The conversation also touched on regional issues, with both Presidents discussing the upcoming multilateral events and the ongoing collaboration within the Organization of Turkic States, reflecting their commitment to enhancing regional stability and cooperation.

The phone call underscored the continued strong partnership between Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan, with both sides reaffirming their dedication to further deepening bilateral ties in various areas of mutual interest.
