Turkmenistan Proposes Intergovernmental Committee with UAE for Energy Cooperation

Ashgabat, The Gulf Observer: National Leader of the Turkmen People and Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, has proposed the establishment of an Intergovernmental Committee for Cooperation in the Oil, Gas, and Chemical Sectors with the United Arab Emirates, Turkmenistan’s state media reported.
The proposal was made during high-level talks in Ashgabat on Wednesday with a visiting UAE delegation comprising Sultan Ahmed Al Jaber, Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology and CEO of ADNOC; Suhail Al Mazrouei, Minister of Energy and Infrastructure; and Ahmed Al Sayegh, Minister of State at the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
During the meeting, both sides reaffirmed the strategic nature of Turkmen-UAE relations and expressed mutual interest in deepening bilateral cooperation across key sectors, particularly energy, transportation, industry, and advanced technology.
The discussions also highlighted the shared positions of Turkmenistan and the UAE on major international issues, providing a solid basis for collaboration within international organizations such as the United Nations and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation.
In a separate engagement later in the day, Chairman Berdimuhamedov met with senior executives from Malaysian energy company Petronas, including Chairman Tan Sri Tengku Muhammad Taufik, Executive Vice President Mohd Juqris Abdul Wahab, and Vice President of International Assets Mohd Redhani Abdul Rahman. The meeting underscored Turkmenistan’s commitment to fostering international partnerships in the energy sector.
