Turkmenistan, South Korea Review Cooperation Ahead of Regional Summit

Ashgabat, The Gulf Observer: On November 20, 2025, Turkmenistan’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Rashid Meredov held a meeting with Chu Hyun Baek, Special Envoy of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Korea, to review ongoing cooperation and future priorities between the two countries.
During the discussions, both sides exchanged views on a broad spectrum of bilateral cooperation, including political dialogue, trade and economic ties, as well as cultural and humanitarian engagements. They emphasized that high-level visits and regular diplomatic contacts continue to play a pivotal role in strengthening Turkmenistan–Republic of Korea relations.
A key focus of the meeting was the preparation for the upcoming Central Asia–Republic of Korea Summit, highlighting the two nations’ shared commitment to regional dialogue and partnership.
The sides also reviewed the long-term and successful activities of Korean companies operating in Turkmenistan, noting the progress of ongoing projects in various sectors.
Additionally, the diplomats discussed the participation of the South Korean delegation in the International Forum of Peace and Trust, which is scheduled to take place on December 12, 2025, in Ashgabat.
The meeting reaffirmed the mutual interest of Turkmenistan and the Republic of Korea in further developing comprehensive cooperation across priority fields.
