Turkmenistan to Host Third International Conference on Landlocked Developing Countries in August

Ashgabat, The Gulf Observer: Turkmenistan is set to host the Third International Conference on Landlocked Developing Countries (LLDCs) from August 5 to 8, 2025, in the Awaza National Tourist Zone, following a resolution adopted by the United Nations General Assembly, the country’s Chamber of Commerce and Industry announced on Monday.
The high-level international gathering will bring together delegations from UN member states, leading representatives from international financial institutions, regional organizations, academic circles, and the business community. The program will feature expert sessions, roundtable discussions, and bilateral meetings focused on the specific needs and development challenges faced by LLDCs.
The primary objective of the conference is to strengthen the economic potential of landlocked developing countries through enhanced transport and logistics infrastructure, regional and international trade facilitation, and greater integration into the global economy.
Key issues on the agenda will include:
- Development of transport corridors and transit connectivity
- Cross-border trade and trade facilitation mechanisms
- Energy security and sustainable supply chains
- Food security in vulnerable regions
- Advancing the digital economy for LLDCs
- Addressing the impact of climate change on landlocked nations
This major international event reaffirms Turkmenistan’s active and strategic role not only in promoting regional cooperation, but also in contributing to the global development agenda, particularly in support of vulnerable economies with restricted access to international markets.
Hosting the conference in Awaza — Turkmenistan’s flagship coastal resort and a growing hub for international dialogue — demonstrates the country’s commitment to creating platforms for meaningful multilateral engagement and inclusive sustainable development.
