Turkmenistan, US Explore Expanded Cooperation in Politics, Trade, and Culture

Ashgabat, The Gulf Observer: Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov met with Elizabeth Rood, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United States of America to Turkmenistan, to discuss avenues for enhancing bilateral relations.

During the meeting, both sides thoroughly reviewed cooperation in political-diplomatic, trade-economic, and cultural-humanitarian spheres. The effectiveness of existing bilateral collaboration mechanisms was highlighted, particularly the annual political consultations and sessions of the Turkmenistan-US Business Council.

The discussion emphasized the long-standing presence and contributions of American companies in Turkmenistan, noting the successful implementation of joint business contracts in sectors including electric power, agriculture, and transport, with companies such as John Deere, General Electric, and Boeing playing key roles.

Both parties also explored opportunities for new forms of cooperation, with a particular focus on education, science, and culture. The Turkmen side proposed an initiative to establish a Turkmen-American cultural dialogue to further strengthen mutual understanding and collaboration.

Additionally, the meeting included exchanges of views on the development of high technology, banking, and financial sector cooperation, signaling potential areas for future partnership between the two countries.
