Turkmenistan's President Meets OSCE Secretary General to Strengthen Cooperation

Ashgabat, The Gulf Observer: President Serdar Berdimuhamedov of Turkmenistan welcomed Helga Schmid, the Secretary General of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE), in Ashgabat on Tuesday, according to Turkmenistan’s official media.

In their meeting, Secretary General Helga Schmid conveyed the OSCE’s keen interest in further enhancing the long-standing and fruitful cooperation with Turkmenistan across various domains.

President Berdimuhamedov underscored Turkmenistan’s foreign policy grounded in positive neutrality principles, emphasizing the country’s commitment to uniting efforts in the pursuit of global peace, security, and sustainable progress.

The President expressed confidence that the recent meeting in Ashgabat on March 4th, involving the OSCE Secretary General and Central Asian ministers of environmental protection, would contribute to active dialogue in the crucial field of ecology. The discussions covered ongoing cooperation issues in environmental protection.

Drawing attention to Turkmenistan’s significant energy potential, President Berdimuhamedov emphasized the need for specific actions within the OSCE framework to ensure global market access and energy transit. This involves considerations of political, financial, and environmental aspects. The President also highlighted the importance of strengthening cooperative ties in the transportation system. Turkmenistan expressed its readiness to deepen collaboration with the organization in specific sectors.

At the conclusion of the meeting, both President Serdar Berdimuhamedov and OSCE Secretary General Helga Schmid expressed confidence that the enduring partnership between their respective entities would continue to flourish, contributing to collective peace and prosperity.
