Türkmenstandartlary Expands International Accreditation with New Laboratories

Ashgabat, The Gulf Observer: The State Standardization Center Türkmenstandartlary has expanded its international accreditation by introducing a temperature measurement calibration laboratory and a mass laboratory, strengthening Turkmenistan’s capabilities in metrology.

The National Accreditation Authority of Hungary (NAH) recently assessed and confirmed that the new laboratories comply with international standards, as reported by the Transport and Communications Agency under the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan on Wednesday.

With this expansion, the Center is now capable of calibrating a wide range of measuring instruments, including platinum thermometers, weights, and weighing instruments, with high precision. The accreditation extension until 2028 not only affirms the high quality of work performed but also creates opportunities for cost savings.

A key priority for the Center remains the full preparation of laboratories for international accreditation under the ISO/IEC 17025 standard, ensuring compliance with global metrology standards.

The State Standardization Center of Turkmenistan, inaugurated on October 1, 2013, is equipped with modern technology to ensure measurement consistency across the country. The facility spans 25,500 square meters and includes laboratories outfitted with reference-standard equipment from leading global manufacturers.

A major milestone in Turkmenistan’s metrology sector was the adoption of the Law on Ensuring Measurement Consistency in 2012. Equipment deliveries were completed in 2015, and all devices underwent calibration in international laboratories. Today, the Center conducts calibrations in 17 types of measurements and actively trains its specialists to maintain high standards in the field.
