Jordan’s King Abdullah Praises Saudi Arabia’s Firm Support for Palestinian Rights

Riyadh, The Gulf Observer: Jordan’s King Abdullah on Wednesday commended Saudi Arabia’s unwavering stance in support of Palestinian rights during a phone call with Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.
The discussion followed a statement by U.S. President Donald Trump suggesting the removal of Palestinians from Gaza and U.S. control over the territory. Speaking at a joint press conference with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu at the White House, Trump remarked, “The US will take over the Gaza Strip and we will do a job with it, too; we’ll own it.”
During their conversation, King Abdullah and the crown prince reviewed the latest regional developments and reaffirmed efforts to uphold security and stability, according to the Saudi Press Agency.
Earlier on Wednesday, King Abdullah met with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, where he firmly rejected any attempts to control Palestinian territories or forcibly displace the population.
In response to Trump’s remarks, Saudi authorities issued a statement reiterating the Kingdom’s firm and unwavering position on the Palestinian issue. The statement emphasized Saudi Arabia’s rejection of any attempts to displace the Palestinian people and reaffirmed its commitment to establishing an independent Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital.
“Saudi Arabia will continue its relentless efforts to establish an independent Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital and will not establish diplomatic relations with Israel without that,” the statement read.
The Kingdom further asserted that achieving a just and lasting peace is impossible without guaranteeing the Palestinian people their legitimate rights, in line with international resolutions. This position has been consistently conveyed to both past and present U.S. administrations.
