UAE Delivers 400 Tonnes of Food Aid to Gaza

Abu Dhabi, The Gulf Observer: The United Arab Emirates (UAE), in collaboration with the American Near East Refugee Aid (Anera), has successfully transported 400 tonnes of food aid to the people of Gaza, with a specific focus on the northern Gaza Strip. This delivery, intended to support approximately 120 thousand individuals, underscores the UAE’s unwavering commitment to addressing the humanitarian crisis in Gaza and providing relief to its brotherly Palestinian population.

Reem Al Hashimy, Minister of State for International Cooperation, emphasized the UAE’s dedication to solidarity with the Palestinian people and alleviating suffering in Gaza. She remarked, “The UAE’s safe and efficient delivery and distribution of food relief to the Gaza Strip, particularly the Northern Gaza Strip, represents a significant escalation in action.” Minister Al Hashimy reiterated the UAE’s determination to intensify efforts in collaboration with international partners to ensure that aid reaches those most in need.

Sean Carroll, President and CEO of Anera, expressed gratitude for the support from the UAE government and people, which enabled the successful delivery of food aid to northern Gaza, where urgent needs persist.

This initiative follows the allocation of US$15 million under the Amalthea Fund to support aid efforts in Gaza. The UAE continues to work closely with international partners and organizations to enhance the humanitarian response and address the critical needs of Gaza’s population through land, air, and sea channels.

To date, the UAE has delivered over 31,000 tonnes of urgent humanitarian supplies, including food, relief items, and medical supplies, through 256 flights, 46 airdrops, 1,231 trucks, and six ships. Additionally, the UAE has initiated sustainable relief projects to ensure long-term support for Gaza, including the establishment of automatic bakeries to serve 72,000 individuals, supplying flour to existing bakeries, and setting up desalination plants benefitting up to 600,000 people daily. These efforts reflect the UAE’s commitment to providing comprehensive assistance and promoting stability in Gaza.
