UAE Participates in 163rd Arab League Council Session, Reaffirms Commitment to Joint Arab Action

Cairo, The Gulf Observer: The United Arab Emirates took part in the 163rd session of the Council of the League of Arab States at the level of Permanent Representatives, which convened today at the Arab League Headquarters in Cairo.
The UAE delegation was led by Mariam AlKaabi, the UAE Ambassador to the Arab Republic of Egypt and the country’s Permanent Representative to the Arab League.
The session’s agenda covered a wide range of critical political, economic, social, legal, financial, and administrative issues, with a primary focus on enhancing joint Arab cooperation amid evolving regional and global challenges.
Foremost among the agenda items was the Palestinian cause and the broader Arab-Israeli conflict. Discussions addressed recent political developments, the activation of the Arab Peace Initiative, Israeli actions in occupied Jerusalem, and efforts to support Palestinian resilience and financial needs. The Council also deliberated on Arab water security, including Israel’s appropriation of water resources in occupied Arab lands and the situation in the Syrian Golan Heights.
The session also examined pressing regional security concerns, including ongoing conflicts and humanitarian crises in Libya, Yemen, Sudan, and Somalia, as well as developments in Syria and Lebanon. A consistent position was reiterated regarding the Iranian occupation of the UAE’s three islands — Greater Tunb, Lesser Tunb, and Abu Musa — with calls for peaceful resolution in accordance with international law.
Discussions also included issues surrounding the security of maritime navigation and energy supply routes in the Arabian Gulf, forming a unified Arab response to Turkish military incursions into Iraq, and supporting peacebuilding and development efforts in Sudan, Somalia, and the Comoros.
Additionally, delegates reviewed border disputes, such as the Djibouti-Eritrea conflict, and developments regarding the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam, with emphasis on preserving Arab water rights and regional stability.
The UAE reaffirmed its enduring commitment to strengthening Arab solidarity and coordination, aligning its regional diplomacy with efforts aimed at safeguarding sovereignty, promoting peace, and advancing sustainable development across the Arab world.
