UAE President and Canadian Prime Minister Hold Talks to Strengthen Bilateral Cooperation

Abu Dhabi: His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the United Arab Emirates, held official talks on Thursday with the Right Honourable Mark Carney, Prime Minister of Canada, to review bilateral relations and explore avenues to enhance collaboration in line with both countries’ development ambitions. Prime Minister Carney, on an official visit to the UAE, was warmly welcomed by H.H. Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed at Qasr Al Shati in Abu Dhabi. The UAE President expressed his hope that the visit would further advance the longstanding and robust ties between the two nations. During the discussions, both leaders reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening the UAE–Canada partnership, which spans more than five decades. They emphasized the importance of fostering cooperation in key development areas, including investment, trade, technology, artificial intelligence, clean energy, climate action, education, culture, and sustainability. The talks also encompassed regional and international developments of mutual concern, with both sides highlighting the need to support initiatives promoting peace, security, and regional and global stability for the benefit of all nations. H.H. Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed described UAE–Canada relations as a model of cooperation aimed at advancing development and prosperity regionally and globally. He underscored the two countries’ shared perspective on multilateral collaboration, peace, and sustainable development. Prime Minister Carney commended the progress of UAE–Canada relations and reaffirmed Canada’s commitment to expanding areas of cooperation that serve the mutual interests of both nations while contributing to global peace, stability, and prosperity. At the conclusion of the meeting, both countries signed an agreement on the protection and promotion of investment, designed to enhance economic cooperation and foster strategic investment partnerships supporting their shared development goals. The agreement was signed on behalf of the UAE by H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, and on behalf of Canada by Prime Minister Mark Carney. Coinciding with the Prime Minister’s visit, the two countries also announced a memorandum of understanding on investment cooperation. The meeting was attended by H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs; H.H. Sheikh Theyab bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Chairman of the Presidential Court for Development and Fallen Heroes’ Affairs; H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Chairman of the Presidential Court for Special Affairs; Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad bin Tahnoon Al Nahyan, Adviser to the UAE President; alongside several ministers and senior officials.
