UAE President’s Visit to Kuwait to Bolster Historic Ties and Strategic Cooperation
Abu Dhabi, The Gulf Observer: The state visit of UAE President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan to Kuwait on Sunday, November 10, marks a pivotal milestone in strengthening the historic and fraternal relations between the UAE and Kuwait. The visit aims to deepen cooperation across all sectors, reinforcing the strategic partnership and paving the way for new opportunities for bilateral collaboration.
The UAE and Kuwait enjoy robust ties, reflected in high-level dialogues, frequent ministerial engagements, and a strong commitment to developing their relationship. Earlier this year, His Highness Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, the Emir of Kuwait, visited the UAE, resulting in a joint statement emphasizing enhanced cooperation. Additionally, reciprocal visits by officials, including Dubai’s Crown Prince Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum and Kuwaiti ministers, underscore the dedication to expanding ties.
The two nations share a longstanding history of friendship, dating back to their diplomatic relations established shortly after the UAE’s formation in 1971. Cooperation is evidenced through the UAE-Kuwait Joint Higher Committee, which has fostered collaboration in infrastructure, technology, education, culture, and defense through multiple agreements and memoranda of understanding.
Bilateral ties span numerous fields, including political, economic, military, and cultural cooperation. Both countries share a unified stance on promoting peace, stability, and diplomacy in the Gulf region and beyond. Recent years have witnessed significant growth in non-oil trade, which reached $12.198 billion in 2023, making the UAE a key partner in Kuwait’s trade landscape.
The UAE and Kuwait’s collaboration extends to tourism, education, and cultural exchanges, reflecting their commitment to enhancing people-to-people connections. Kuwait’s active participation in COP28 and initiatives to support environmental sustainability further demonstrate the mutual commitment to global challenges.
The visit of Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan is expected to further solidify this deep-rooted partnership, emphasizing shared values and aspirations for regional progress and prosperity.
