UAE Team Emirates Unveils Squad for Tour de France 2024

Abu Dhabi, The Gulf Observer: UAE Team Emirates has officially announced the team roster for the upcoming Tour de France, scheduled from June 29 to July 21, with the Grand Depart starting in Florence, Italy.

The team will be led by the former two-time Tour de France winner, Tadej Pogačar, who recently claimed victory at the Giro D’Italia in May. Pogačar, at 25 years old, will spearhead the team through the challenging 3,492 km course, which begins with a 206 km road stage from Florence to Rimini, before moving westward into France via the Alps, passing through cities such as Bologna and Torino. The race will conclude in Nice on July 21, a departure from the traditional Paris finish.

Sports Manager Joxean Matxin Fernandez will lead the squad, supported by Sports Directors Andrej Hauptman, Simone Pedrazzini, and Fabrizio Guidi. The team consists of eight riders:

  • Marc Soler (Spa)
  • Nils Politt (Ger)

  • Joao Almeida (Por)

Expressing his enthusiasm, Pogačar stated, “It’s already my fifth time coming to the Tour, and I’m really excited about it. We’ve worked really hard all year as a team to prepare for this and we hope we can give everyone watching three weeks of exciting racing.”
