UAE Unveils Comprehensive Model to Combat Digital Violence and Violence Against Women and Girls

New York, The Gulf Observer: The Ministry of Interior and the Federal Competitiveness and Statistics Centre (FCSC) of the United Arab Emirates have launched the “UAE Regulatory and Preventive Model to Combat Digital Violence and Violence Against Women and Girls” during the 69th session of the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women.

This pioneering model underscores the UAE’s unwavering commitment to promoting women’s rights and advancing gender balance on the global stage. It presents a comprehensive framework comprising 35 legislative measures and 46 awareness initiatives, developed in collaboration with 22 national institutions. Additionally, the model aligns with key international agreements aimed at safeguarding women’s rights and fostering social and economic development.

Lieutenant Colonel Dana Humaid Al Marzouqi, Director General of the International Affairs Office at the Ministry of Interior, highlighted that the UAE’s progressive vision, rooted in tolerance, justice, and equality, has positioned the nation as a leader in social safety and digital security. She emphasized the importance of creating a safe digital environment, empowering women to confidently navigate the digital realm while playing an active role in civil society.

Hanan Mansour Ahli, Managing Director of the FCSC, emphasized that the model not only addresses contemporary challenges but also demonstrates the UAE’s commitment to gender equity. She noted that the nation’s global leadership in 30 competitiveness indicators related to women’s empowerment reflects its success in establishing a pioneering model for gender equality.

The UAE Regulatory and Preventive Model also aligns with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly Goal 5: Gender Equality, while addressing interconnected goals such as Good Health and Well-being, Quality Education, Decent Work and Economic Growth, and Reducing Inequalities.

The initiative highlights the UAE’s dedication to upholding international agreements, including the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women (CEDAW) and the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action, which serve as global benchmarks for women’s rights and protection against violence.

The model’s launch at the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women reinforces the UAE’s status as a global leader in empowering women and promoting gender equity, showcasing the nation’s continued efforts to foster a secure and inclusive society.
