UAE Welcomes Türkiye’s Diplomatic Efforts to Resolve Sudan Crisis
Abu Dhabi, The Gulf Observer: The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has expressed its appreciation for the diplomatic efforts led by the Republic of Türkiye to address the ongoing crisis in Sudan. The UAE considers these efforts a priority, reflecting Türkiye’s steadfast commitment to promoting regional peace and stability.
In a statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA), the UAE reaffirmed its readiness to collaborate with Türkiye and other international initiatives aimed at ending the Sudanese conflict and achieving a comprehensive resolution.
The UAE highlighted its focus on securing an immediate ceasefire and cessation of hostilities between the Sudanese Armed Forces and the Rapid Support Forces. It also emphasized the importance of addressing the humanitarian crisis in Sudan through the provision of urgent relief aid to the Sudanese people.
The UAE stressed its active cooperation with regional and international partners to halt the escalation of violence, achieve a ceasefire, and initiate inclusive intra-Sudanese dialogue. This dialogue aims to include all political factions and warring parties to fulfill the aspirations of the Sudanese people for security, development, and prosperity.
The statement also called for adherence to commitments under the Jeddah Declaration and mechanisms proposed by the ALPS Group (Aligned for Advancing Lifesaving and Peace in Sudan). The UAE criticized the absence of the Sudanese Armed Forces from the latest peace talks held in Geneva, stating it reflects a disregard for the suffering of the Sudanese people and an unwillingness to engage in peace negotiations.
Reaffirming dialogue and negotiation as the sole path to resolving the conflict, the UAE urged all parties to return to the negotiation table and actively participate in efforts to secure a political process toward a civilian-led government and lasting peace in Sudan.
