Shamma bint Mohammed visits Queen Mary University and King’s College in Britain
London, The Gulf Observer: Sheikha Dr. Shamma bint Mohammed bin Khalid Al Nahyan, Chairperson of the Board of Directors of the Sheikh Mohammed bin Khalid Al Nahyan Cultural and Educational Institutions, has attended two significant meetings with leading educational institutions in the United Kingdom. Sheikha Dr. Shamma held a meeting with Queen Mary, a University, part of the University of London, which dates back to 1785 and has campuses all over the city.
She was greeted by Professor Colin Bailey, Rector of the University, and a number of senior faculty members. A presentation was given about the university’s educational, research, and community services.
Dr. Shamma expressed her delight at learning about their achievements, especially their dedication to society and pursuit of excellence. During the dialogue, she discussed the possibility of collaborating with them through Sheikh Mohammed bin Khalid Al Nahyan’s Cultural and Educational Institutions.
Dr. Shamma also visited King’s College London, which was established in 1829 by the Duke of Wellington. The College has a long and distinguished international reputation in the humanities, law, science, psychiatry, medicine, dentistry, nursing and social sciences.
Rebecca Morgan, Senior Philanthropy Manager, King’s College London, welcomed Dr. Shamma and thanked her interest in getting to know the college closely.
A presentation was given on the college’s history and the valuable contributions it has made to various fields of research.
During the meeting, Dr. Shamma discussed the program’s outcomes and their impact on building and developing students’ capabilities.
She praised the college’s societal role and discussed mechanisms for exchanging experiences in community programs with Sheikh Mohammed bin Khalid Al Nahyan’s Cultural and Educational Institutions. She then toured the college departments, including the library.
Sheikha Shamma also presented the two universities’ libraries with a set of publications and books about the UAE as part of the Knowledge for Humanity Initiative.
