UAE’s “Lifeline” Water Project Brings Relief to Displaced Families in Southern Gaza

Gaza

Gaza, The Gulf Observer: The United Arab Emirates’ “Operation Chivalrous Knight 3” organized a field visit for media personnel and stakeholders following the successful extension of the “Lifeline” water supply project to the southern areas of Al Mawasi in Khan Younis, one of Gaza’s most densely populated zones sheltering displaced families.

The visit was aimed at monitoring the project’s implementation and assessing the impact on vulnerable groups, particularly children and the elderly, who have long suffered from severe water shortages.

The newly installed 7.5-kilometre pipeline connects Emirati desalination plants in Rafah, Egypt, to the Al Mawasi area, providing clean water to approximately 600,000 Palestinians. Each person is expected to receive 15 litres of safe drinking water daily, easing months of hardship caused by the lack of a functioning water network.

The “Lifeline” initiative is designed to address the acute humanitarian crisis by supplying reliable access to fresh water, safeguarding public health, and reducing the daily burden on displaced families struggling under extreme heat and repeated water outages.

This project builds on the UAE’s ongoing humanitarian interventions in Gaza, which have included the construction of desalination plants, deployment of water tankers, drilling of wells, and maintenance of existing networks. Alongside water solutions, the UAE continues to implement urgent infrastructure projects to ensure long-term humanitarian relief and meet the essential needs of Gaza’s population.
