Ukraine, Saudi Arabia Sign Defence Cooperation Agreement to Boost Strategic Ties

Riyadh, The Gulf Observer: Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has announced the signing of a defence cooperation agreement with Saudi Arabia, describing it as a mutually beneficial step that will strengthen strategic ties between the two countries.
In a statement shared on social media platform X, President Zelensky said the agreement was concluded between the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine and the Ministry of Defence of Saudi Arabia ahead of his meeting with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.
He noted that the document lays the foundation for future agreements, enhanced technological collaboration, and increased investment, while also reinforcing Ukraine’s position in the global defence landscape.
President Zelensky emphasized Ukraine’s readiness to work closely with Saudi Arabia by sharing its expertise and defence systems, particularly in safeguarding human lives. He highlighted Ukraine’s experience over the past five years in countering ballistic missile and drone attacks, drawing parallels to ongoing security challenges in the Middle East and Gulf region.
He added that Saudi Arabia also possesses capabilities that could serve Ukraine’s interests, making the partnership beneficial for both sides.
Expressing appreciation for his engagement with Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, Zelensky said discussions also covered the broader situation in the Middle East and the Gulf, Russia’s support to Iran, developments in global oil markets, and potential cooperation in the energy sector.
The agreement marks a significant step in expanding bilateral cooperation, reflecting shared interests in security, stability, and technological advancement.
