Ulissi Claims 47th Career Victory in Tour of Austria Stage 3

Schladming, The Gulf Observer: Diego Ulissi secured his 47th career victory by triumphing in stage 3 of the Tour of Austria, a 153.1 km route from Schladming to St Johann Alpendorf.

On the short but steep final hill (2.5 km at 6.5%), the UAE Team Emirates rider showcased his prowess, edging out Magnus Sheffield of Ineos Grenadiers and his teammate Felix Grossschartner, who finished third. This victory came after a two-rider breakaway was neutralized just 2 km from the finish line.

Ulissi’s win propels him to the top of the General Classification, holding a slim 1-second lead over Sheffield. He will don the leader’s jersey in stage 4, a 151.7 km journey from St. Johann Alpendorf to Kals, featuring the HC climb of Fuscher Torl (17.5 km at 8.8%) mid-course.

“I’m very happy with this win. It wasn’t originally even on my program to be here in Austria, but I’ve been training really well these past weeks and knew my condition was good,” Ulissi stated. “Today was a finish that suited my characteristics, and thanks to the help of my teammates, particularly Felix and Jan, we managed to pull off the win. We’ll aim to take the yellow jersey home in the team over the remaining stages.”
