UN Circulates President Ilham Aliyev’s Address on Western Azerbaijan as Official Document of Security Council and General Assembly

Baku, The Gulf Observer: The United Nations Secretariat has officially circulated the address of President Ilham Aliyev to participants of the international conference titled “Return to Western Azerbaijan as an Essential Condition for the Supremacy of Human Rights”, held in Ankara on 21 May 2025, as an official document of both the UN Security Council and the UN General Assembly. The final document of the conference was also included in the circulation.

In response, the Western Azerbaijan Community released a statement emphasizing the significance of this development. The statement reads:

“The circulation of President Ilham Aliyev’s address by the UN Secretariat—highlighting his principled and consistent efforts to keep the issue of Western Azerbaijan on the international agenda—plays a pivotal role in garnering international support for the right of return to Western Azerbaijan as a human rights matter.”

The Community reiterated its commitment to advocating for the peaceful, safe, and dignified return of displaced persons to their ancestral lands, in accordance with international law and human rights principles.

The statement further called upon the Government of Armenia to fulfill its obligations under the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and other binding international conventions by ensuring the necessary conditions for the return of Western Azerbaijanis.

The circulation of the Azerbaijani President’s address as an official UN document underscores growing international attention to the issue and represents a step forward in elevating the matter within global diplomatic and human rights frameworks.
