Uzbek FM Boosts Economic Ties in Meetings with Japanese Business Leaders

Tashkent, The Gulf Observer: The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan, Bakhtiyor Saidov, recently engaged in a series of high-level meetings with prominent Japanese business representatives, aiming to strengthen economic ties and explore collaborative opportunities between the two nations.
One significant encounter took place between Minister Saidov and Masayoshi Fujimoto, President and CEO of Sojitz Corporation. In a statement on his Telegram channel, Minister Saidov highlighted the focus on aligning the company’s strengths with untapped opportunities within Uzbekistan’s growing economy.
Additionally, a productive meeting transpired between Minister Saidov and Yoichi Miyamoto, Chairman of the Board of Shimizu Corporation. Both parties underscored the immense potential for fruitful cooperation, particularly in the realm of infrastructure projects.
Expressing gratitude for the dedication of Mr. Ishiguro Norihiko, Chairman of the Japan Foreign Trade Organization, to boost bilateral trade and economic collaboration, Minister Saidov emphasized the commitment to capitalizing on shared opportunities.
Further solidifying diplomatic ties, Minister Saidov engaged in discussions with Japanese Minister of Foreign Affairs, Yoko Kamikawa. Their talks culminated in the signing of a Cooperation Program between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan and Japan for the years 2024-2025. Minister Saidov expressed optimism, stating, “We are committed to further strengthening the Uzbek-Japanese strategic partnership and achieving more tangible results.”
The diplomatic efforts extended to the business forum held in Tokyo, where Minister Saidov participated alongside State Minister of Economy, Trade, and Industry of Japan, Ryosuke Kozuki, and Chairman of the Japan External Trade Organization, Ishiguro Norihiko. Approximately 300 representatives from the business community, government agencies, and regions convened to explore avenues for expanding economic ties through promising joint projects in various sectors.
The event witnessed the signing of several agreements and memorandums of understanding, reflecting the shared commitment of Uzbekistan and Japan to fostering a robust economic partnership and paving the way for mutually beneficial collaborations. As the strategic alliance between the two nations strengthens, the prospect of achieving substantial results in diverse sectors remains a focal point for both Uzbekistan and Japan.
