Uzbek Senate Chairperson meets UAE Gender Equality VP at UN Summit

New York, The Gulf Observer: Tanzila Narbaeva, Chairperson of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis, currently attending the 68th session of the UN Commission on the Status of Women in New York, held a significant meeting with Mona Ghanem Al Marri, Vice-President of the Gender Equality Council of the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

In light of the recent advancements in multilateral cooperation between Uzbekistan and the UAE, both parties reflected on the notable upsurge in relations. The pivotal official visit of Uzbekistan’s head of state to the UAE marked a watershed moment in the history of bilateral ties, catalyzing a profound expansion of comprehensive cooperation between the two nations.

The dialogue between Narbaeva and Al Marri encompassed a broad spectrum of topics, ranging from the joint pursuit of Sustainable Development Goals to discussions on international rankings, public administration, women’s empowerment, and the promotion of women’s entrepreneurship.

A focal point of the conversation was the exploration of practical avenues for collaboration, particularly in the realm of implementing the “Women in Politics” program through specialized seminars and projects. Noteworthy was the UAE’s achievement, with female representation constituting 50% of the country’s Parliament, along with approximately 60 prominent companies committing to ensuring women occupy 30% of their workforce.

Concluding their deliberations, both parties unanimously underscored the imperative of fostering multilateral comprehensive cooperation, particularly in advancing gender equality initiatives.

Furthermore, Narbaeva extended a cordial invitation to Mona Ghanem Al Marri to partake in the upcoming Asian Women’s Forum scheduled to be held in the historic city of Samarkand, underscoring Uzbekistan’s commitment to fostering inclusive dialogue and collaboration on matters of mutual interest.
