Uzbekistan and Germany Expand Cooperation to Boost Women’s Entrepreneurship

Berlin, The Gulf Observer: As part of an official visit to the Federal Republic of Germany, a delegation from Uzbekistan, led by Chairperson of the Family and Women’s Committee Zulaykho Mahkamova and comprising representatives from Mikrokreditbank and women entrepreneurs, held a series of productive meetings aimed at enhancing bilateral cooperation in women’s entrepreneurship.

The visit was organized with the support of the German Sparkassenstiftung for International Development e.V. and the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Germany. Its primary focus was to foster strategic partnerships in support of women entrepreneurs, facilitate direct engagement with German institutions and foundations, and exchange best practices in financial literacy and business management.

During the visit, the Uzbek delegation held high-level discussions with representatives of the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development, the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy, the Rural Women’s Association, and the Savings Banks Finance Group (Sparkassen-Finanzgruppe), among other relevant organizations. Delegates also had the opportunity to familiarize themselves with the operations of several German banking institutions.

The visit concluded with the signing of several key agreements. Notably, Mikrokreditbank, Hamroh, and the Sparkassenstiftung Foundation agreed to collaborate on joint programs aimed at improving women’s financial literacy, enhancing business planning skills, and facilitating access to targeted loans. These agreements also include provisions for the implementation of educational programs and financing mechanisms, such as grants and subsidized credit lines.

In a significant step toward promoting intercultural dialogue and advancing gender inclusion, Hamroh also signed a cooperation agreement with the West-Östliche Begegnungen Foundation. The agreement focuses on fostering women’s leadership and expanding female participation in socio-political processes.

Participants emphasized that the outcomes of the visit lay a robust foundation for the sustainable development of women’s entrepreneurship in Uzbekistan and mark a meaningful step forward in strengthening international cooperation in the socio-economic domain.
