Uzbekistan and Germany Strengthen Ties with Joint Declaration and Bilateral Agreements

Samarkand, The Gulf Observer: President Shavkat Mirziyoyev of Uzbekistan and Federal Chancellor Olaf Scholz of Germany have adopted a Joint Declaration following successful negotiations in Samarkand. The official visit marked a significant step forward in bilateral relations between the two countries, resulting in the signing of eight key documents.
The agreements cover a range of sectors and highlight the deepening cooperation between Uzbekistan and Germany. Among the notable documents signed were:
- Intergovernmental Agreement on Comprehensive Partnership in Migration and Mobility – A framework aimed at enhancing migration cooperation and addressing workforce mobility between the two nations.
- Intergovernmental Declaration on Cooperation in Veterinary Medicine and Animal Husbandry – Aimed at fostering collaboration in the agricultural sector, particularly in improving animal health and farming practices.
- Intergovernmental Declaration on Cooperation in Sustainable Water Resources – Within the framework of the Green Central Asia Initiative, this agreement promotes joint efforts in sustainable water resource management.
- Joint Declaration on Cooperation in Critical Minerals – Focused on securing access to and sustainable development of critical minerals essential for both countries’ industries.
- Cooperation Agreement in Transport – Enhancing connectivity and logistics infrastructure between Uzbekistan and Germany.
- Memorandum of Cooperation on Climate Change – Signed under the framework of the Paris Agreement, this agreement strengthens joint efforts to combat climate change and promote environmental sustainability.
Additionally, a Program for Technological Partnership and Industrial Cooperation for 2024-2026 was adopted, outlining key areas for future collaboration. A number of agreements and contracts were also concluded between leading companies from both countries, solidifying economic ties and paving the way for further industrial cooperation.
This visit underscores the growing strategic partnership between Uzbekistan and Germany, with both nations committing to enhanced collaboration across various fields, contributing to regional stability and economic development.
