Uzbekistan–Pakistan Strengthen Academic Cooperation as H.E. Alisher Tukhtaev Meets NUST Rector

Islamabad, The Gulf Observer: His Excellency Alisher Tukhtaev held a substantive meeting with Professor Muhammad Zahid Latif, Rector of the National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST) of Pakistan, to advance bilateral cooperation in higher education and scientific research. The meeting was also attended by Azam Kodirjonov, Rector of the University of Geological Sciences of Uzbekistan.

During the discussions, the participants explored concrete steps toward launching joint academic programs between higher education institutions of Uzbekistan and Pakistan. They also reviewed plans to expand student and faculty exchange initiatives and examined the prospect of establishing a NUST faculty at the University of Geological Sciences of Uzbekistan.

The Pakistani side expressed high appreciation for the large-scale reforms being implemented in Uzbekistan under the leadership of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, particularly in the areas of higher education, scientific development, and digital transformation. Both sides reaffirmed their readiness to build long-term, practice-oriented cooperation aimed at enhancing academic excellence and innovation.

As a key outcome of the talks, an agreement was reached to organize an official visit of the NUST delegation to Uzbekistan to further elaborate on the proposed collaborative projects and formalize next steps.

Alisher Tukhtaev underscored that the meeting represents an important step toward building a strong educational and scientific bridge between Uzbekistan and Pakistan. He emphasized that investment in knowledge is an investment in the future, noting that both countries remain committed to creating expanded opportunities for the youth of Uzbekistan and Pakistan through strategic academic partnerships.
