Uzbekistan Proposes Key Initiatives to Boost Economic Cooperation at SCO Business Council Meeting in Beijing

Beijing, The Gulf Observer: A regular meeting of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Business Council Board was held in Beijing, bringing together member states to discuss pathways for deepening regional economic cooperation, enhancing trade and investment ties, and advancing digital infrastructure across the SCO region.
The Uzbekistan delegation was led by Dilshod Rasulov, Deputy Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan, who presented several forward-looking proposals aimed at strengthening economic collaboration among SCO member countries.
In his remarks, Mr. Rasulov emphasized Uzbekistan’s commitment to elevating the level of economic integration within the SCO. He highlighted several strategic initiatives, including the SCO International Innovation Clusters Program, which aims to jointly develop high-tech industries through a science-driven approach.
Another key proposal is the creation of the SCO TradeNet digital platform, intended to facilitate the digitalization of the trade and logistics sector, while enabling automated data exchange between participating countries. The platform is expected to improve trade efficiency and reduce logistical bottlenecks across the region.
Mr. Rasulov also underscored the importance of supporting small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), noting the initiative to launch the SCO Business School for SMEs. This educational network will focus on building the entrepreneurial capacity of business owners across the SCO, offering targeted training and knowledge-sharing opportunities.
The concept of SCO Smart Border Zones was also introduced, envisioning the establishment of innovative economic zones in border regions, designed to foster trade, innovation, and connectivity through the use of advanced technologies.
Rasulov confirmed that concrete projects are currently under development to implement these initiatives, which are expected to play a significant role in transforming the economic landscape of the SCO region.
The meeting concluded with a strong consensus on the need for enhanced regional economic integration and coordinated action to realize the shared development goals of SCO member states.
