Uzbekistan, Qatar Strengthen Cooperation Against Corruption

Doha, The Gulf Observer: A high-level delegation from the Republic of Uzbekistan, comprising representatives from human rights bodies and senior officials of the Anti-Corruption Agency, embarked on a visit to Qatar to fortify collaboration in the fight against corruption.

During the visit, Akmal Burkhanov, Director of the Anti-Corruption Agency of Uzbekistan, held a significant meeting with Hamad bin Nasser Al-Misnad, President of the Administrative Control and Transparency Authority of the State of Qatar. The meeting culminated in the signing of a Memorandum of Cooperation, accompanied by an extensive Action Plan spanning the years 2024 to 2026.

The comprehensive Action Plan encapsulates a series of strategic measures aimed at enhancing the anti-corruption landscape in both countries. Key elements of the plan include a joint assessment of corruption risks, initiatives to ensure transparency in the operations of government agencies, and the exchange of experiences in implementing anti-corruption standards set forth by the United Nations.

The signing of the Memorandum of Cooperation underscores the commitment of Uzbekistan and Qatar to collaborate closely in combating corruption, aligning their efforts with international best practices. By sharing expertise and strategies, the two nations aim to fortify their respective frameworks for preventing and addressing corruption.
