Uzbekistan’s Air Samarkand Approved for Regular Flights to Saudi Arabia

Samarkand, The Gulf Observer: Uzbekistan’s Air Samarkand has received authorization from Saudi Arabia’s General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA) to commence regular flights to Saudi Arabia. The newly approved service will enhance connectivity between the two nations, with operations scheduled twice a week starting July 30.
This initiative is part of GACA’s ongoing efforts to bolster connectivity and expand Saudi Arabia’s air transport network, aligning with the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030. The Kingdom aims to transform the region into a global logistics hub and open new opportunities for the sector, aligning with the ambitions of the Saudi Aviation Strategy.
The introduction of regular flights by Air Samarkand signifies a deepening of economic cooperation between Saudi Arabia and Uzbekistan. This collaboration reflects a shared commitment to prosperity through the mutual goals outlined in both countries’ 2030 plans.
In April, Saudi Arabia also approved China Southern Airlines to operate flights between Riyadh and three cities in China. GACA authorized the airline to commence regular operations from Beijing, Guangzhou, and Shenzhen to the Saudi capital. The travel schedule included four passenger or commercial flights and three air cargo trips per week.
Additionally, a new air route between Riyadh and Shanghai was established in March, facilitated by a partnership between the Saudi Air Connectivity Program and China Eastern Airlines. This agreement linked Shanghai Pudong International Airport to King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh, with services operating using an A330-200 aircraft, offering an annual capacity of 35,880 inbound seats.
These developments reflect the growing interest and demand for travel between Saudi Arabia and its international partners. GACA remains committed to contributing to the Kingdom’s gross domestic product while modernizing its aviation sector and positioning itself as a globally leading, innovative, and trusted aviation regulator.
