Venezuela to Transfer Up to 50 Million Barrels of Oil to United States, Trump Announces

Washington, The Gulf Observer: Venezuela will turn over between 30 and 50 million barrels of sanctioned oil to the United States, President Donald Trump announced on Tuesday, in a development that follows the recent overthrow of Venezuelan leader Nicolás Maduro, according to media reports.
In a statement posted on his social media platform, Truth Social, President Trump said the interim authorities in Venezuela had agreed to transfer the oil, which will be sold at market prices. He stated that the revenue from the sale “will be controlled by me, as President of the United States of America, to ensure it is used to benefit the people of Venezuela and the United States.”
Trump directed U.S. Energy Secretary Chris Wright to execute the plan immediately, with the oil to be transported by storage ships and unloaded directly at U.S. ports.
The announcement comes amid heightened geopolitical tensions after U.S. forces captured Maduro over the weekend, a move that has drawn international attention and raised questions about the future of Venezuela’s oil sector. The transfer of oil is seen as a significant escalation in U.S.–Venezuela relations and may have broad implications for global energy markets and diplomatic dynamics.
The situation continues to unfold, with the Trump administration signaling a strategic push to secure Venezuela’s vast oil resources and integrate them into the U.S. energy market while asserting that the arrangement will benefit both countries.
