Vietnam and Venezuela Aim to Bolster Economic Ties and Multilateral Cooperation

Hà Nội, The Gulf Observer: Vietnam seeks to enhance its relationship with Venezuela, particularly in the realms of economy, trade, and investment, Vietnamese Minister of Foreign Affairs Bùi Thanh Sơn stated during talks with his Venezuelan counterpart, Yván Gil Pinto, in Hà Nội on June 8.
Minister Sơn proposed that both nations increase the exchange of delegations at all levels, including business delegations, and promote trade and investment activities. He emphasized facilitating market access for key export products and concretizing cooperation and investment opportunities.
Minister Gil Pinto expressed his admiration for Vietnam on his first visit, affirming that the Venezuelan government highly values and prioritizes strengthening its relations with Vietnam, a significant partner in the Asia-Pacific region. He emphasized Venezuela’s desire to consolidate and expand cooperation with Vietnam, both bilaterally and multilaterally, contributing to the development and growth of both countries.
The ministers expressed satisfaction with the positive developments in bilateral relations, particularly noting the success of Deputy Prime Minister Trần Lưu Quang’s visit to Venezuela in April 2024. They highlighted the need to continue promoting effective political consultations at the deputy foreign minister level and expedite the organization of the Việt Nam-Venezuela Intergovernmental Cooperation Committee meeting.
Both sides agreed to review and advance negotiations on cooperation agreements to create a robust legal framework for enhancing multifaceted ties. They outlined several measures to deepen cooperation in politics, diplomacy, trade, agriculture, energy, culture, and people-to-people exchange.
The ministers also agreed to foster cooperation in new fields such as telecommunications, construction, and pharmaceuticals, recognizing the significant potential for collaboration in energy, agriculture, pharmaceuticals, and trade.
Furthermore, they committed to maintaining coordination and mutual support in international organizations and multilateral forums, particularly the United Nations and the Non-Aligned Movement. On international and regional issues, they concurred that disputes should be resolved through peaceful means based on international law, with respect for the legitimate interests of all parties, to contribute to global peace, stability, cooperation, and development.
During his visit from June 7-8, Minister Gil Pinto laid a wreath and paid tribute to President Hồ Chí Minh at his mausoleum in Hà Nội. He also visited the President Hồ Chí Minh relic site and several historical and cultural landmarks in the city.
This visit underscores the commitment of both nations to enhancing their bilateral relations and exploring new avenues for cooperation, thereby contributing to their mutual development and prosperity.
