Vietnam-Japan Digital Transformation Association Debuts in Tokyo

Tokyo, The Gulf Observer: The Vietnam-Japan Digital Transformation Association (VADX JAPAN) was officially launched in Tokyo on July 7. The association is poised to become a vital platform for connecting Vietnamese businesses in Japan’s information technology (IT) sector, fostering cooperation, and sharing advanced technological initiatives between the two nations.
Ambassador Phạm Quang Hiệu highlighted the remarkable growth of Vietnamese IT companies in Japan since 2005, noting that over 60 firms have established branches or commenced operations in the country. He emphasized that the establishment of VADX JAPAN marks a significant milestone in this growth, characterized by enhancements in reputation, quality, workforce scale, revenue, and future development opportunities.
Ambassador Hiệu expressed his optimism that VADX JAPAN will help Vietnamese IT enterprises in Japan advance further, positioning themselves as leaders in digital transformation and contributing practically to the cooperation between Vietnam and Japan for the benefit of both peoples.
VADX JAPAN Chairman Đỗ Văn Khắc affirmed the association’s role as a hub for connecting businesses involved in digital transformation and innovation. He emphasized that VADX JAPAN aims to be a robust bridge, facilitating the exchange of technological initiatives and solutions between Việt Nam and Japan. Additionally, the association seeks to provide ample collaboration opportunities for IT enterprises from both countries, significantly enhancing the quality of the IT workforce in Japan.
VADX JAPAN plans to organize activities that promote innovation, technology transfer, research and development, and the application of advanced digital technologies for its members. In terms of human resources development, the association aims to cultivate tens of thousands of high-quality engineers in Japan and hundreds of thousands of proficient Japanese-speaking engineers in Vietnam. This initiative aims to help address Japan’s projected labor shortage, which the Ministry of Economy, Trade, and Industry of Japan estimates will reach nearly 800,000 people by 2030.
According to VADX JAPAN’s assessment, Japan’s demand for software development outsourcing is estimated at over $30 billion annually, with Vietnamese IT enterprises currently holding only a 6-7% market share. This indicates substantial potential and long-term opportunities for these enterprises in Japan.
The association has set an ambitious goal of achieving a total revenue of 1 trillion JPY (approximately US$7 billion) for Vietnamese IT enterprises in Japan by 2033. This goal underscores VADX JAPAN’s ambition to become a reputable and strong organization, making significant contributions to the digital and green transformation of both countries.
