Vietnam PM praises work of school for disabled children
Hanoi, The Gulf Observer: During a visit to the southern Ben Tre Province on Wednesday, PM of Vietnam Chinh emphasised the importance of an all-inclusive education system that leaves nobody behind, which has always been a priority for the Party and State.
Speaking at the Ben Tre school for children with disabilities, PM Chinh applauded the institution for its efforts in children’s education and social integration.
Established 32 years ago, the school provides care and education for 250 children with disabilities in the province.
PM Chinh emphasised that education and training are priorities of the Party and the State, and an important foundation for equality policies in education access, especially for vulnerable children and those with disabilities.
He recognised the work of the local teachers and education sector, highlighting that caring for children with special needs requires effort, patience and dedication.
Ben Tre Province must continue effectively implementing the Party’s and State’s policies on education and training, especially Resolution No 29 on comprehensive reforms and improvement of the sector through specific action plans and programmes.
PM Chinh also paid a visit to the province’s Vietnamese heroic mother Lê Thị Khanh, whose husband and child died in the war.
The PM also inspected the construction of the Rạch Mieu 2 Bridge while visiting the province.
He called for the project contractors and investors to ensure five fundamental factors of quality, schedule, safety, environment protection and aesthetics.
The 17.6-kilometre-long bridge connecting Tiền Giang and Ben Tre provinces has a total investment of VND5.2 trillion (US$220 million) from the State budget. Construction began last March.
It is expected to go into commercial operation at the beginning of 2026.
The PM said that investors, contractors and departments must constantly supervise the construction in the hopes that the project is completed six months ahead of schedule.
The transport ministry must monitor and inspect contractor selections to ensure transparency, law compliance and healthy competition.
PM Chinh stressed that the structure design and consultancy must have practical, strategic, long-term visions that avoid capital increases.
Regarding land clearance, the local authorities are ordered to mobilise all stakeholders and accelerate the process for people to resettle based on shared interests between the State, the people and businesses.
The PM also said that the locality must ensure sufficient construction materials for the project. In case of difficulties, contractors can directly contact the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment for solutions.
PM Chinh also inspected the site for a coastal road in the province.
Connecting Ben Tre, Tien Giang and Tra Vinh, the construction is expected to measure 53 kilometres in length and cost VND28.5 trillion ($1.2 billion).
