During the meeting, both sides acknowledged the positive progress in bilateral relations, particularly following the elevation of Vietnam-US ties to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership. They discussed priority areas to further enhance cooperation on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two nations.

Prime Minister Chính praised Ambassador Knapper’s efforts in maintaining stable development momentum and fostering high-level exchanges, including successful phone discussions between Party General Secretary Tô Lâm and US President Donald Trump. He reiterated that Vietnam values cooperation with the Trump administration to advance the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership and maintain steady, substantive progress.

The Prime Minister urged the US Embassy and relevant Vietnamese agencies to collaborate on activities celebrating the diplomatic milestone. He highlighted the importance of strengthening economic, trade, and investment cooperation as a driving force in bilateral relations. He noted that Vietnamese ministries are proactively addressing US concerns, including tariff reviews and increasing imports of US agricultural products, liquefied petroleum gas, and high-tech goods.

Prime Minister Chính emphasized that the Vietnamese Government remains committed to creating favorable conditions for US businesses and investors. He also called on the United States to recognize Vietnam’s market economy status and support the import of advanced technological equipment.

The Prime Minister further urged continued US assistance in addressing war-related consequences, such as dioxin detoxification at Biên Hoà Airbase, supporting disabled individuals and war victims, and enhancing DNA identification for Vietnamese martyrs.

Expressing gratitude, Ambassador Knapper reaffirmed the United States’ commitment to promoting the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership based on mutual respect and shared interests. He emphasized the US Government’s continued support for a strong, independent, and prosperous Vietnam, while also expanding cooperation in various fields, including war legacy resolution, defense, security, education, and high-quality human resource development.
