Vietnam Seeks 45-Day Delay on U.S. Tariffs Amid High-Level Trade Negotiations

U.S.

Hanoi, The Gulf Observer: Prime Minister Phạm Minh Chính has called for a 45-day postponement of newly announced U.S. tariffs— including a 46% tariff on Vietnamese goods— to allow time for negotiation and to maintain balanced, sustainable trade ties.

The request follows a high-level agreement between General Secretary Tô Lâm and U.S. President Donald Trump aimed at achieving mutual tariff elimination.

The Vietnamese Government is also addressing core U.S. concerns, including product origin, intellectual property, and monetary policy, while supporting affected domestic industries through credit packages, tax relief, and diplomatic outreach.
