Vietnam to Hold Grand Military Parade for 80th Anniversary of August Revolution and National Day in 2025

Hanoi, The Gulf Observer: The Vietnamese Government has formally instructed the Ministry of National Defence and the Ministry of Public Security to lead preparations for a grand military parade to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day, which falls on September 2, 2025.
This directive is outlined in Resolution No. 124/NQ-CP issued following the Government’s regular meeting in April 2025.
According to the resolution, the Ministry of National Defence will spearhead coordination with relevant ministries and localities to ensure high levels of combat readiness, safeguard national sovereignty and territorial integrity, and secure maritime economic activities. The ministry is also tasked with monitoring military and defence developments, providing strategic guidance, and responding swiftly to any potential threats to prevent unforeseen incidents.
The Government emphasized the need to modernize military training to meet the demands of evolving combat environments. It also called for continued enhancement of international defence integration and diplomacy, in line with Vietnam’s strategic vision to bolster its national defence capacity at an early stage and over long-term horizons.
Key priorities identified include modernizing the armed forces and advancing military science and technology, especially in the development and production of high-tech weaponry. These goals are in alignment with Politburo Resolutions No. 57-NQ/TW and No. 08-NQ/TW, which guide the development of Vietnam’s defence industry through 2030 and beyond.
In parallel, the Ministry of Public Security has been assigned to collaborate with related agencies and provincial authorities to improve early warning systems and forecasting capabilities. The ministry is expected to provide strategic advice to the Party and the State on measures to safeguard national security, with a focus on protecting critical infrastructure and major national events, including the upcoming 9th session of the 15th National Assembly.
The ministry is also leading a nationwide crackdown on high-tech crime, conducting a comprehensive review of drug users and individuals under post-rehabilitation monitoring, and launching targeted operations against identified drug hotspots.
On May 12, the General Staff of the Việt Nam People’s Army held a conference to implement the organisational plan for the armed forces’ participation in the anniversary parade. Chaired by Senior Lieutenant General Nguyễn Văn Nghĩa, Deputy Chief of the General Staff, the meeting directed the Military Training Department to issue detailed guidelines on training and coordination, drawing on past experience from the 50th anniversary parade of Southern Liberation and National Reunification.
The planned celebration will feature 11 stationary formations and 27 marching contingents. Participating units have begun selecting qualified personnel and finalizing centralized training schedules, including regional joint rehearsal arrangements.
During the meeting, delegates reached consensus on key organisational aspects, including uniforms, parade routes, and designated training locations. The General Department of Logistics was tasked with ensuring adequate support for accommodations, nutrition, and healthcare for participating troops, particularly during the intensive summer training period.
Senior Lieutenant General Nghĩa underscored the importance of inter-agency coordination and the application of lessons learned from previous national parades to ensure the success of the upcoming celebration. He also urged training units to adopt flexible and scientifically grounded timetables to maintain performance standards and safeguard soldiers’ well-being during the peak summer months from June to September.
