Vietnamese and Chinese Justice Ministers Hold Talks

Hà Nội, The Gulf Observer: Vietnamese Minister of Justice Lê Thành Long and his Chinese counterpart, He Rong, engaged in discussions on Friday as part of the latter’s four-day working visit to Việt Nam.

During the talks, Minister Long conveyed congratulations on the significant historical achievements made by the Communist Party of China (CPC), the Chinese State, and its people, especially in the decade following the 18th National Party Congress. He expressed appreciation for the contributions of the Chinese Ministry of Justice in the construction of China’s “socialist rule of law state”.

Minister Long briefed the Chinese official on Vietnam’s socio-economic situation in the first quarter of 2024 and outlined the Party’s principles and directions in constructing and improving the socialist rule of law state. He highlighted Resolution 27-NQ/TW, which sets the goal of building a comprehensive legal system conducive to innovation, sustainable development, and rigorous enforcement mechanisms.

Recognizing the new requirements posed by Resolution 27-NQ/TW, Minister Long stressed the importance of cooperation and knowledge sharing, particularly with China, a neighboring country sharing ideological, political, economic, and social similarities with Vietnam.

Minister He Rong provided insights into the CPC’s principles and policies in the legal and judicial field and introduced initiatives promoting regional cooperation. He acknowledged Vietnam’s achievements in building the socialist rule of law state and emphasized the importance of mutual learning and cooperation.

Both Ministers commended efforts in negotiating and signing two significant cooperation documents: a Memorandum of Cooperation in the legal field and a Cooperation Programme for 2024-25. They underscored the need for effective implementation and periodic evaluation of these agreements.

Following the talks, the Ministers signed an Agreement on organizing the First Conference among the judicial agencies of localities along the Vietnam-China border, scheduled to take place in China in 2025.

The discussions and agreements reached during the meeting underscore the commitment of both countries to strengthen cooperation in legal and judicial matters, fostering mutual understanding and enhancing bilateral ties.
