Singapore Airshow 2024

Hanoi, The Gulf Observer: A delegation from the Ministry of National Defence, led by Lieutenant General Phạm Trường Sơn, Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People’s Army, is actively participating in the Singapore Airshow 2024 from February 20-25.

The Vietnamese delegation, headed by Lieutenant General Phạm Trường Sơn, explored exhibits from various prominent global businesses and corporations, witnessing demonstrations by air forces from Singapore, the United States, South Korea, China, Indonesia, Australia, and international civil airlines.

During the exhibition, the delegation engaged in meaningful discussions with partners, addressing mutual concerns and fostering bilateral cooperation. In a meeting with Deputy Minister of Defence of the Czech Republic, Daniel Blazkovec, Lieutenant General Phạm Trường Sơn expressed gratitude for Czechoslovakia’s (now the Czech Republic) valuable support during Vietnam’s struggle for national liberation and in its nation-building efforts. He commended the recent outstanding results in bilateral defence cooperation and expressed hope for continued collaboration, including delegation exchanges and training.

In a meeting with Assistant Secretary of the US Air Force, Andrew Hunter, the Vietnamese delegation emphasized the need to strengthen cooperation based on signed documents. Priority areas for collaboration include training, rescue operations, military medicine, and participation in United Nations peacekeeping missions, along with efforts to address the lingering consequences of war in Vietnam.

The Singapore Airshow, recognized as the largest air show in Asia, is held biennially. This year’s event attracted over 1,000 aviation and defence companies from more than 50 countries and territories, featuring industry giants such as Airbus, Boeing, and Lockheed Martin. Notably, this marks the first time in four years that the Singapore Airshow is open to the public, offering visitors the opportunity to explore the exhibition on February 24-25.
