Chinese FM Embarks on Diplomatic Mission to Munich, Spain and France

Beijing, The Gulf Observer: China’s top diplomat, Wang Yi, a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and the Chinese Foreign Minister, is set to attend the 60th Munich Security Conference, where he will deliver a keynote speech. During the event, he will expound on China’s stance on significant international matters, aligning with the conference’s theme. Following the conference, Wang Yi will embark on visits to Spain and France, culminating in the China-France Strategic Dialogue scheduled to take place from February 16 to 21.

Wang Yi’s participation in the Munich Security Conference comes at a pivotal moment, as the world grapples with unprecedented changes and enters a new era of turbulence and transformation. The Foreign Minister is expected to articulate China’s proposals for building a community with a shared future for mankind and advocate for an equal and orderly multipolar world.

According to Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning, Wang Yi’s invitation to the Munich Security Conference was extended by Christoph Heusgen, Chairman of the Munich Security Conference, José Manuel Albares Bueno, Spain’s Minister for Foreign Affairs, European Union, and Cooperation, and Emmanuel Bonne, Diplomatic Adviser to the French President.

During his visit to Spain, Wang Yi will engage in diplomatic discussions as the Year of the Dragon commences, coinciding with the second half-century of China-Spain diplomatic relations. The Chinese Foreign Ministry emphasized the significance of this visit, highlighting the thoughtful and cordial arrangements made by Spain. China aims to build upon the common understandings reached by the heads of state, fostering mutual trust, enhancing friendship, and advancing cooperation within the framework of the China-Spain comprehensive strategic partnership.

The subsequent visit to France holds particular importance, marking the 60th anniversary of diplomatic ties between China and France. Last month, Chinese and French leaders exchanged congratulatory messages, emphasizing the need for continued collaboration to strengthen the China-France comprehensive strategic partnership for the next 60 years. Wang Yi is set to hold bilateral meetings with French officials and co-chair a new round of the China-France Strategic Dialogue. The dialogue aims to deepen strategic communication, consolidate political trust, and promote practical cooperation, people-to-people exchanges, and cultural interactions.

China expressed its readiness to enhance communication and coordination with France on multilateral issues, contributing to the steady growth of China-Europe relations.
