Wang Yi Urges Global Unity for a Peaceful and Prosperous Future at the UN Summit

New York, The Gulf Observer: Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi called for greater global cooperation and shared responsibility in safeguarding the planet during his address at the “Summit of the Future,” held in conjunction with the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly on Monday. Representing Chinese President Xi Jinping as his special envoy, Wang urged the international community to “take good care of our common home” and work together to strengthen global governance.

“Humanity has only one planet Earth to call home, and we belong to the same world community,” Wang said, stressing the importance of world leaders gathering at the summit to adopt the Pact for the Future, a framework designed to promote global peace and development, while shaping a more sustainable future for humanity.

Wang highlighted Chinese President Xi Jinping’s vision of building “a community with a shared future for mankind,” noting that Xi’s proposals—such as the Belt and Road Initiative and the Global Development, Security, and Civilization Initiatives—offer new solutions to common global challenges. These initiatives, he said, provide a strategic roadmap for creating a more peaceful and prosperous world.

In his statement, Wang outlined a four-point proposal for global cooperation:

  1. Peace and Security: Countries must work toward a future of peace and tranquility by upholding comprehensive, cooperative, and sustainable security measures. Disputes should be resolved through dialogue, with major powers leading the way by rejecting geopolitical rivalries and fostering international solidarity.
  2. Development and Prosperity: A people-centered development approach is essential, where economic globalization benefits all nations equally. Wang emphasized the need to ensure that the fruits of global development are shared and that common prosperity becomes a reality.
  3. Fairness and Justice: The international community should strive for a fair and just multipolar world, opposing hegemonic acts like unilateral sanctions and protecting the legitimate rights of developing nations.
  4. Equitable Global Governance: Global governance structures should evolve to become more just and equitable, ensuring that all countries have a voice in shaping the world’s future.

“China will work hand in hand with countries around the world to advance the building of a community with a shared future for mankind and create a more peaceful and better tomorrow,” Wang concluded.

The summit served as a platform for world leaders to unite in their commitment to addressing the pressing challenges of the 21st century, with a focus on ensuring a peaceful, prosperous, and equitable future for all.
