Winners of First Imam Khomeini World Award to Be Honored in Tehran

Tehran, The Gulf Observer: The winners of the first edition of the Imam Khomeini World Award will be introduced and honored at a ceremony to be held on Wednesday at Tehran’s International Summit Hall, according to the head of the Islamic Culture and Communications Organization.
Speaking to media on Monday, Hojatoleslam Mohammad Mehdi Imanipour said the award represents the highest badge of honor of the Islamic Republic and will be conferred upon the most effective real and legal entities active in promoting Imam Khomeini’s School of Thought, which has gained a wide global audience since the 1960s.
He noted that the ceremony will also pay tribute to prominent Iranian and international figures who have contributed to encouraging and disseminating the thought and practice of Imam Khomeini.
Describing the Imam Khomeini World Award as one of the most significant distinctions at both national and international levels, Imanipour said its approach is global in scope. He explained that the award reflects the perspectives of the Leader of the Islamic Republic on major global issues, including the occupying Israeli regime, the plight of oppressed peoples, colonization, and the dominance of Western powers.
The award was initially approved by the Supreme Council of the Cultural Revolution in 2013, but received final approval in 2023 following amendments to its statute, level, and structure. Its framework is based on 10 thematic axes, including the recognition and promotion of outstanding scientific, intellectual, and social works related to the thought and personality of Imam Khomeini.
Iran’s president and several cabinet ministers serve on the award’s policy-making council, alongside figures affiliated with national and international scientific and academic institutions. Ten specialized judging committees operate under the council, each responsible for different thematic areas of the award.
According to officials, the winners of the inaugural edition were selected from among distinguished domestic and foreign figures after the evaluation of nearly 6,000 works by the relevant committees. They will be honored in the presence of intellectuals and scholars from more than a dozen countries.
