10,000 Japanese Citizens Visited Uzbekistan in First Five Months of 2025

Tashkent, The Gulf Observer: The National Statistics Committee of Uzbekistan has reported that a total of 10,000 Japanese citizens visited the country between January and May 2025, marking a significant increase in bilateral tourism activity.
According to the data, this figure reflects a growth of 3,500 individuals or an increase of 53.2% compared to the same period in 2024.
The breakdown of visits by purpose reveals the following:
- Tourism: 8,950 visitors
- Visiting relatives: 751 visitors
- Official visits: 286 visitors
- Education: 36 visitors
- Commercial activity: 1 visitor
The rise in tourist numbers underscores the growing interest of Japanese travelers in Uzbekistan’s cultural heritage, historical sites along the Silk Road, and hospitality initiatives. Authorities view this trend as a positive indicator of deepening people-to-people ties and expanding cooperation in the tourism sector between Uzbekistan and Japan.
