Erdogan Warns of Regional Conflict Amid Escalating Tensions Following Israeli Strikes on Iran

Ankara, The Gulf Observer: Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has issued a strong warning against what he described as Israel’s attempt, supported by Western powers, to ignite a broader regional war. Speaking at a ceremony in Hatay on Saturday, Erdogan cautioned against “falling into the trap set by Israel and its supporters,” emphasizing the need for restraint to prevent further escalation in the region.

Erdogan’s remarks follow an overnight Israeli attack on Iranian territory, marking a significant escalation in regional tensions. Expressing solidarity, Erdogan extended wishes for a quick recovery to Iran and condemned the aggression, which he asserted aims to destabilize neighboring areas and draw multiple nations into conflict.

This latest warning from Erdogan aligns with statements from the Turkish Foreign Ministry, which earlier condemned Israel’s recent actions, including the military campaign in Gaza and hostilities against Lebanon. The ministry underscored that “Israel’s actions threaten to plunge the region into deeper conflict,” and argued that halting Israeli hostilities has become “a crucial and historic responsibility for international peace and security.”

The ongoing conflict in Gaza has now claimed 42,924 lives on its 386th day, further intensifying humanitarian concerns. Turkish officials have consistently voiced apprehension over Israel’s actions, which they assert jeopardize regional stability and risk sparking a larger-scale war across the Middle East.
