Lukashenko Unveils Development Program for South-Eastern Mogilev Oblast at Dazhynki Festival

Klimovichi, The Gulf Observer: Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko announced that the program for the development of the south-eastern region of Mogilev Oblast will be updated during his address at the Dazhynki 2024 harvest festival in the town of Klimovichi on November 16. The festival, which honors farmers, also served as a platform for the President to highlight ongoing and future initiatives aimed at the region’s economic growth.

Lukashenko assured the audience that the state would continue to support hardworking citizens and businesses. “If I see that we are getting a good return and profit in this or that area, I guarantee you all kinds of support, including financial one,” the President stated, emphasizing the government’s commitment to fostering development in the region.

The program, which has been in progress since 2015, has already seen significant investments totaling approximately Br2 billion. The funds have been used for various projects, including the modernization of cement plants, which have switched to using local fuels, and the establishment of a cement bonded particle board plant in Krichev District. In Slavgorod District, an innovative confectionery project was implemented, and a pig breeding complex for 24,000 head was built. In Klimovichi District, the region’s largest pig breeding farm for 3,600 sows was also put into operation.

While acknowledging these achievements, President Lukashenko outlined plans to continue the program in an updated form. He stressed that the revised program would serve as a strategic document aimed at identifying new projects, particularly in the manufacturing industry, to create jobs and retain the local population in their home regions.

“The updated program will not only provide preferences, but it will focus on identifying new opportunities in manufacturing to ensure economic growth and job creation,” Lukashenko noted, highlighting the importance of retaining local talent in the region. He also pointed out that the strategy will be further refined, with a focus on the social and economic development of the territories.

Looking ahead to the winter months, the President revealed plans to decide on tactical measures in agriculture. He hinted at the possibility of reinforcing the technical teams in Mogilev Oblast, which have already proven effective. “The main task is to reduce the disparity in the social and economic development of territories,” Lukashenko stressed, emphasizing that strong regions are key to a strong country.

“This is no longer just a tactic; this is our strategy moving forward,” the Belarusian leader concluded, reaffirming his government’s commitment to regional development as a central part of the nation’s overall progress.
