In a series of high-level meetings, Minister Țoiu also held consultations with Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Moldova, Mihai Popșoi. Following their bilateral discussions, the two foreign ministers addressed the press jointly, highlighting the shared vision and strategic partnership between Romania and the Republic of Moldova.

The official talks focused on Moldova’s EU accession process, expansion of bilateral cooperation in energy, infrastructure, culture, and the Romanian language, as well as enhancing the country’s resilience and regional stability. The strengthening of trade relations and improvements to cross-border infrastructure were also key points of the agenda.

Minister Țoiu reaffirmed the strong political commitment of Romanian President Nicolae Ionel Ciucă, Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan, and the entire Romanian Government to actively support Moldova during this decisive phase of its European integration.

“The relationship between Romania and the Republic of Moldova is rooted in our shared language, history, and traditions,” stated Minister Țoiu, adding that Romania remains a steadfast partner in Moldova’s European journey.

Both parties emphasized the importance of easing border traffic and facilitating commercial flows.

Highlighting the tangible benefits of ongoing joint initiatives, Minister Țoiu met with representatives of Romanian businesses operating in the Republic of Moldova to discuss opportunities for increased economic engagement.

Regional security, particularly countering hybrid threats, was also a critical aspect of the dialogue. The two nations reaffirmed their joint commitment to ensuring stability and resilience in the face of evolving geopolitical challenges.

The visit underscored Romania’s role as Moldova’s most dedicated advocate within the European Union and its closest ally in promoting democratic reforms, connectivity, and regional peace.
