President Ilham Aliyev, EU’s Kaja Kallas Discuss Expanding Azerbaijan–EU Cooperation in Munich

Munich, The Gulf Observer: President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev met with Kaja Kallas, High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and Vice-President of the European Commission, on the sidelines of engagements in Munich, AzerNEWS reports.

During the meeting, the sides fondly recalled Kallas’s visit to Azerbaijan last year and her previous discussions with the head of state, noting the constructive nature of bilateral dialogue.

The talks underscored the European Union’s interest in further strengthening relations with Azerbaijan. Both parties highlighted the successful cooperation between Azerbaijan and the EU in the energy sector, emphasizing Azerbaijan’s significant contribution to enhancing Europe’s energy security, particularly amid evolving regional and global challenges.

In addition to energy cooperation, the meeting pointed to broad opportunities for expanding collaboration in the field of transport, reflecting Azerbaijan’s growing role as a key connectivity hub linking Europe and Asia.

The discussions also covered prospects for deepening Azerbaijan–European Union cooperation, efforts to ensure lasting peace and stability in the South Caucasus region, and other issues of mutual interest.

The meeting reaffirmed the commitment of both sides to maintaining close dialogue and advancing partnership across strategic sectors.
