Saudi, US Foreign Ministers Discuss Strategic Relations, Regional Developments

Washington, The Gulf Observer: Saudi Minister of Foreign Affairs Prince Faisal bin Farhan held talks with U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio in Washington, D.C., on Monday, focusing on bilateral strategic relations and major regional and international developments.

During the meeting, the two sides reviewed Saudi Arabia-U.S. strategic relations and discussed ways to strengthen and further develop cooperation across various fields in a manner that serves the common interests of the two countries.

Prince Faisal and Rubio also exchanged views on key regional and international developments, particularly security and political developments in the region, the situation in Yemen, and ongoing efforts to address related challenges.

The two ministers underscored the importance of safeguarding the security of navigation and freedom of passage through international waterways, particularly the Straits of Hormuz and Bab al-Mandab. They stressed that maintaining the safety of these vital maritime routes is important for regional stability and the uninterrupted flow of global trade and supply chains.

They further emphasized the importance of continued coordination and consultation between Saudi Arabia and the United States on issues of mutual interest, while supporting diplomatic efforts aimed at resolving regional crises and promoting security, peace and stability.

The meeting was attended by Saudi Ambassador to the United States Princess Reema bint Bandar; Advisor to the Minister of Foreign Affairs for Lebanese Affairs Prince Yazid Al-Farhan; Advisor to the Minister of Foreign Affairs for Political Affairs Prince Musab Al-Farhan; and Advisor and Special Envoy of the Minister of Foreign Affairs for Negotiations and Peace Efforts Manal Radwan.
