GSP Plus status of immense importance for socio-economic development of Pakistan: Ch.M.Sarvar

Islamabad, The Gulf Observer: Former Governor Punjab Chaudhry Mohammad Sarwar has said that GSP Plus is very important for the social and economic development of Pakistan.

Pakistan got this with great difficulty and will need a lot of efforts to maintain it.

He said this during an informal chat with a select group of senior journalists in Islamabad wherein a detailed discussion on the political and economic situation of the country took place.

Chaudhry Sarwar informed the journalists about the joint efforts being made for the flood victims under the platform of Sarwar Foundation and Pakistan Development Network and said that all the welfare organizations under the umbrella of Pakistan Development Network made it possible to provide one month’s ration to the flood victims and played their role by giving family packages of ration to more than one and a half lakh affected families.

He said that medical camps were also set up by Sarwar Foundation in the affected areas, which benefited more than 10,000 victims and that this noble task is continuing.

He added that at present all our attention is focused on the rehabilitation of the flood victims but the government is no where to be seen in this scenario.

To a question, Chaudhry Sarwar termed the economic situation of Pakistan as alarming.

Divulging details about the Sarwar Foundation, Chaudhry Sarwar said that provision of clean drinking water in backward districts, middle class education, medical facilities for the underprivileged are part of Sarwar Foundation’s journey.

He said that more than 2.2 million people are using the filtration plants installed by Sarwar Foundation on a daily basis while in the field of medical facilities, apart from free treatment in hospitals, Sarwar Foundation is taking steps like free medical camps for awareness and treatment of different diseases.
