Conference held today on Heydar Aliyev’s language policy
Baku, The Gulf Observer: Today, a republican scientific conference on “Language policy of Heydar Aliyev and modern problems of the mother tongue” was held at ANAS under the organization of Nasimi Institute of Linguistics.
Speaking at the conference, Academician Isa Habibbeyli, President of ANAS, said that a series of events dedicated to the rich legacy of the Great Leader and his unparalleled services to the state and people of Azerbaijan were held in our country and abroad, including in the academy, within the framework of the “Year of Heydar Aliyev”. Emphasizing the importance of today’s conference, the head of ANAS said that the Great Leader paid special attention to the protection of our mother tongue even during the strict prohibitions of the Soviet government, and it was as a result of his efforts that the Azerbaijani language was reflected as the state language in the Constitution of the Azerbaijan SSR adopted in 1978. Also, in the first Constitution of independent Azerbaijan prepared under the leadership of the Great Leader, special attention was paid to the article related to mother tongue.
The Azerbaijani language was established as the state language, including the Law “On the State Language in the Republic of Azerbaijan”. Academician Isa Habibbeyli, who said that the state language policy founded by the National Leader has been successfully developed by President Ilham Aliyev, pointed out that a series of steps have been taken to protect the purity of our mother tongue, a number of documents have been signed, and the State Language Commission and Terminology Commission are operating.
At the conference, Professor Nadir Mammadli, director general of the Institute of Linguistics, and academician Nizami Jafarov, director of the Atatürk Center in Azerbaijan, spoke about the services of the National Leader in the direction of protecting our mother tongue, the steps he took in this direction, the current problems of our mother tongue in the modern era and their solutions.
At the event, “Historical significance of decrees and decrees on language adopted during Heydar Aliyev’s reign”, “Our eternal national leader”, “Heydar Aliyev’s far-sighted statehood, management and language policy are the basis of our victory”, “Heydar Aliyev and language development”, “Heydar Aliyev and language” our history”, “Issues of translation of Heydar Aliyev’s speeches and speeches into Indonesian and Malay languages”, “Linguostatistical and functional analysis of Heydar Aliyev’s swearing-in speeches” were heard.
