African countries participate in a Moroccan initiative to enhance trade exchange

Marrakech, The Gulf Observer: Burkina Faso, Mali, Niger and Chad have expressed their involvement in the international initiative launched by Moroccan King Mohammed VI to enhance Sahel countries’ access to the Atlantic Ocean, which offers great opportunities for the region’s economic transformation.

In a statement at the ministerial coordination meeting held Saturday in Morocco, the foreign ministers of these countries stressed the strategic importance of this initiative, which will contribute to accelerating regional communication, trade flows, and common prosperity in the Sahel region.

The ministers stressed their ambition to strengthen cooperation relations through multi-sectoral partnerships and an innovative structure that reflects the values of “South-South” cooperation and common development, Maghreb Arab Press Agency (MAP) reported.

The ministers agreed to establish a national working group in each country to prepare and propose models for implementing this initiative, as well as work on putting the final touches on the proposals that will be presented to the leaders of their countries.

The Moroccan King announced this initiative on November 6, on the 48th anniversary of the Green March.
