H.H. Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi Launches 17th Edition of Ras Al Khaimah Half Marathon

Ras Al Khaimah, The Gulf Observer: H.H. Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah, underscored the United Arab Emirates’ esteemed global standing in hosting major international events and tournaments during the launch of the 17th edition of the “Ras Al Khaimah Half Marathon 2024.” The event, held on Al Marjan Island, witnessed the participation of renowned international runners and numerous community members.
H.H. Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi emphasized the UAE’s distinguished position, attributing it to the nation’s advanced infrastructure and visionary approach to sports tourism, making it a preferred global destination for such events. The Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah affirmed the Emirate’s commitment to solidifying its global presence in the realm of sports, recognizing its pivotal role in achieving sustainable development, enhancing the quality of life, fostering community engagement, and promoting values of tolerance, cooperation, and constructive partnership.
The launch of the Ras Al Khaimah Half Marathon, attended by H.H. Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi, signifies the Emirate’s dedication to positioning itself on the global sports map. The event, a highlight on the calendar of half-marathon races locally, regionally, and internationally, has attracted elite international runners, further elevating Ras Al Khaimah’s status as a premier sports and tourism destination.
H.H. Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi officially initiated the race, firing the starting gun for the 21km race for professional male and female runners, as well as the 10km, 5km, and 2km races for community members. Following the event, the Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah presented awards to the first-place winners, commending the exceptional performance of the competitors and the intensity of the competition.
Hosted by the Ras Al-Khaimah Tourism Development Authority, the annual Ras Al Khaimah Half Marathon attracts some of the world’s best distance runners and a substantial public audience from both within and outside the country.
